What is EIT Jumpstarter 2026?
EIT Jumpstarter is a 7-month pre-acceleration programme that supports researchers, innovators, Master’s and PhD students, and idea holders in transforming their innovative concepts into registered startups.
The programme is:
- ✅ Free of charge
- ✅ Equity-free
- ✅ Open to individuals or teams of up to 2 co-founders
- ✅ Designed for innovators across Europe
Since 2017, EIT Jumpstarter has launched over 150 startups, trained more than 1,500 participants, and has built a strong European innovation ecosystem
Participants can submit ideas under seven thematic categories:
- Healthcare
- Food & Agritech
- Raw Materials
- Energy & Renewables
- Advanced & Green Manufacturing
- Smart Cities & Mobility
- Dedicated Maltese Track
Who Can Apply?
Applications are open to:
- Researchers
- Master’s and PhD students
- Professionals and innovators
- Individuals or teams (up to 2 co-founders)
To be eligible:
- At least one team member must hold citizenship from an eligible country in Central, Eastern, or Southern Europe, EU Outermost Regions, or Horizon Europe Associated Countries.
- Applicants must not have registered a startup based on the submitted idea before 1 January 2026.
- Previous EIT Jumpstarter participants are not eligible to reapply.
- Total prior EIT funding received must not exceed EUR 60,000.
Please note: applicants must create a dedicated account on the EIT Jumpstarter application platform. Existing EIT HEI Initiative Community accounts cannot be reused.
What Participants Will Gain
Training & Mentorship
Participants receive approximately 55 hours of structured learning, including:
- Online bootcamps
- Startup Builder Training
- Individual mentoring
- Business modelling workshops
- Market validation guidance
- Pitching and incorporation support
Financial Support
Selected teams may receive:
- Up to two EUR 1,000 lump-sum subgrants
- Cash prizes at the Grand Demo Day:
- 🥇 EUR 10,000 (1st place)
- 🥈 EUR 5,000 (2nd place)
- 🥉 EUR 3,000 (3rd place)
Special prizes of EUR 2,500 are also available for:
- New European Bauhaus
- Rebuild Ukraine
- Western Balkans
- EU Outermost Regions
Access to a European Innovation Network
Participants gain access to:
- Six EIT Knowledge & Innovation Communities
- Industry experts and mentors
- A Europe-wide peer network of innovators and entrepreneurs
The programme keeps no equity and charges no participation fees, while supporting teams to establish their startup by the end of 2026.
