Following the successful PIONEER+ project meeting in Colmar, which brought together project partners to review the project’s progress, discuss upcoming activities, and align on the next steps towards achieving its objectives, the consortium took the opportunity to further strengthen collaboration through a joint workshop with the LOTUS Project at the CCI Colmar.

The workshop brought together project partners, academics, and innovation experts to exchange experiences, identify common challenges, and explore new opportunities for collaboration within the European innovation ecosystem.
This synergy between PIONEER+ and LOTUS, both supported by the EIT Higher Education Initiative, highlighted the added value of cross-project collaboration in strengthening innovation and entrepreneurship within higher education. By sharing experiences, methodologies, and lessons learned, the two projects demonstrated how collaboration beyond individual project boundaries can maximise impact and create stronger, more connected innovation ecosystems across Europe.
The workshop opened with welcoming remarks from Prof. Jocelyne Brendlé and Dr. Gregory Hebinger, setting the stage for an engaging programme that included project presentations, interactive speed networking sessions, collaborative workshops, and strategic discussions on the future of innovation in higher education. During the event, Prof. Adamantia Pateli, Project Coordinator of PIONEER+, presented the project’s vision and achievements, while Prof. Stratos Stylianidis, Project Coordinator of LOTUS, introduced the LOTUS initiative and its contribution to fostering entrepreneurial education and innovation.

Throughout the day, participants worked together to address key questions facing European innovation projects, including the common obstacles encountered across initiatives, opportunities for future collaboration, and how success should be measured beyond traditional project indicators. These open discussions enabled participants to identify shared priorities, exchange best practices, and lay the foundations for future joint activities that will maximise the impact of both projects.
The two Project Coordinators took a moment to express their initial thoughts on this newly established partnership, sharing the excitement they feel and their willigness to make the best out of this collaboration. Watch the respective video here.
A particularly engaging element of the workshop was the live graphic facilitation, which visually captured participants’ ideas, discussions, and collective vision throughout the day. Combined with interactive networking sessions and collaborative exercises, the workshop fostered meaningful dialogue and reinforced the value of knowledge exchange between projects pursuing complementary objectives.

The event concluded with a renewed commitment from both PIONEER+ and LOTUS to continue exploring joint actions, sharing expertise, and strengthening collaboration across the EIT Higher Education Initiative community. By connecting two innovation ecosystems around shared challenges and ambitions, the workshop demonstrated how cross-project cooperation can generate lasting value, inspire new partnerships, and contribute to a stronger European higher education innovation landscape.

As PIONEER+ continues its mission to strengthen entrepreneurial and innovation capacities within higher education institutions, collaborations such as this represent an important step towards building a more connected, resilient, and innovation-driven European higher education ecosystem.
